Welcome to The Bench!
It is not only for benched players, but for all the players to sit and rest between matches, and share all the news about this wicked beautiful game.
The Bench is strictly non profit.
All of this is a tribute to all the fantastic people who are already making content for Guild Ball. I am not aiming to do better what anyone else is already doing.
- Both GBCP and SFG have their own blogs about what they’re respectively doing.
- Longshanks continues to be a great place for almost everything.
- Youtube channels and podcasts and other blogs create their content.
- Other creators make tokens and witgets and trays and so on, and want to sell their stuff.
I felt like in addition to all of that, we were missing this kind of “any and all news” about Guild Ball. A blog happened to be the format I landed in, and that’s how The Bench was created. All of the bulletpoints above fit in here, and I mainly keep posts to small bitesize news on purpose.
I turn the spotlight towards anything that I or you find that seems interesting or useful for the international GB community at large.
That is also why I will very rarely post about event promotion, since most events are local things that only affect a select few and so on. If you ask me for it though, I will be happy as a puppy for any interaction with my page, and I may very well post about an upcoming event. Especially if you expect international attendance to travel to it. 🙂
For everyone who are super active on the two big Discord channels, there is probably rarely anything new on The Bench for those people, but sometimes maybe. My main hope is that this little project continues to serve an appreciated purpose for anyone everywhere, both those who are and aren’t on discord 🙂
In the future I might also use some of this space for some of my own content projects. But the Bench will probably always be “unofficial” with the aim to “be like a live or frequent pulse into the GB community” as someone called it on discord a while back.
I want to promote others’ great work, and collect rather than create myself.
About me personally
My name is Daniel (Advena on Discord) and I live in Luleå, northern Sweden.
I’ve played guild ball since season 2, when me and a friend bought the Kick Off box and split it, so that I got Masons and he Brewers. Good memories!
I work as system specialist and support admin in small local IT company.
Married and father of a 10 year old, who also learned to play GB after the 2024 revival. It is super fun to see him navigate the game in terms of both language and maths, and ultimately the actual tactics.
This is my first time making a wordpress website!
All feedback is good feedback. I get some communication already about The Bench, but I’d love to get more tips and input from more people. Also, if you ever see something on here that’s wrong, or that I can’t use the way I have, please please please tell me and I will happily change anything. I want all of us to be friends 🙂
