It was a late addition to the SFG blogposts, but let’s not dwell on that. The Lumberjacks Guild Card with the formal rules text for the Logpiles is finally here!

And the Masons Guild Card was updated as well!

Logpiles rules summary
- Lumberjacks get 2 logpiles, no more no less
- Masons get 1 logpile, no more no less
- Place after kickoff
- Place within friendly half
- Never closer that 4″ to each other
- Obstructions, including grants cover to friend and foe
- After placing a logpile, one friendly within 1″ of new place can dodge 2″
- Logpile-dodging once per turn per model, like with Rest or Encourage.
These are super fun to play with.
They can aaabsolutely be annoying for the opponent though, since they can move or destroy them. But let’s just say that wayback severam iterations before the finished product, there wete more of them and no closeness restrictions, and more crazy stuff too. So this version really us the sweetspot that was found after many many many hours of playtesting with the GBCP.
Having been part of playtesting it all, it’s absolutely fantastic to see them finally realised like this, with art and models and every detail that make up this game that we all love.
A couple more notes to remember:
Logpiles can still be close to other terrain, so blocking charge lanes and other positioning is absolutely a viable tactic even though the oppressive side of it was built away.
Don’t think that you only get the logpile-dodges in the pregame phase. The abilities on the models move around friendly logpiles, so that the dodges are applied when needed the most. It can be difficult to play that tactical advantage, and in tournaments it will eat a lot of your clock time – but ohboy it’s a fun and strong mechanic to use. Huge potential for threat extension and positioning shenanigans.

And there we have it!
Now everyone’s got everything to go out and play Lumberjacks for real. Models have official release this coming friday, some have been sold on the US Lock & Load convention already, and preorders have been up for a few weeks as well!
Not to mention buyable STL files on the horizon.
Happy days for guildballers!
