This is a really great format for casual Guild Ball play!
Here you’ll find all the parts of this greatness that I’ve been able to find. First below is the formal print of the rules for the format, but the idea is really simple. Field a team based on nationality instead of based on guilds. There are tons of interesting potential here!
On the backside/secondside of each player’s card is noted small flavour things like field position, gender and nationality. That nationality is what we’re looking for here.
I wrote “casual play” above, but there have been very high level tournaments in this format as well, including the World Cup 2018. Have a look at that here! –> LINK
But a lot has happened since then, and regardless the nature of the format means that some crazy combinations may be expected and the powerlevel between teams will likely be varied.
Some nations get a lot more options for captains and mascots, but all nations can definitely field a full team with interesting choices!
In addition to these basic rules, this format can be played with additional rules modifications as well, for example to allow for Flea to use his abilities on any Indar mascot and not only on the Brewer ones.
For extra spicy special options, you can also rule that some guild rules like the Ball of Light and Beer tokens and so on, can be used as long as the right captain is played, even though “the actual Guild” isn’t the teambuilding stipulation.
When playing this format, or hosting a whole event in it, feel free to think these things over to set the level where you want it. Big swingy crazy synnergies can be great fun in casual games after all.

Then we also have the mystical characters that no one really knows where they came from.
While they can be led by Soma/Pneuma they have no Mascot, so either they have to be played with special rules to make up for it (any/none/random mascot for example) or they cannot be chosen as a full team for this format. 🙂
You can however, decide to let each nation take up to one model each of unknown origin! Either pre-decided or that any player may take any one Unknown model to their team when drafting. This way is nice since it makes all lodels playable!
