Another super good article by Critical Hit about our fav game, this time featuring a long writeup about all the guilds of Guild Ball.

Some really nifty infographics and tables in there. Overall a very well made article, so this is a perfect place to refer new players to, for delving deeper into the game.

As always, there is a depth to this game that opens for differing opinions on where everything fits in and how all the guilds play. But that’s the beauty of it, really. The incredibly deep tactical variance paired with the well preserved balance of power between all guilds. This game is far from “solved” and discussing it’s many details and strategies is just never boring.
Some words about the article by the writer Jack Brussels himself:
“This is the second article in a series of four. My goal is to help bring Guild Ball back on track.
Actually, the whole website is dedicated to non–Games Workshop games that struggle to gain visibility.
We are a team of seven writers, and we move from game to game, doing our best to help them shine. Of course, we do make mistakes, so if anyone spots something incorrect, please let us know.
I’m open to every kind of article as long as it might be relevant for the readers. I have made interviews in the past (but for other games). I’m open to do some for Guild Ball as well if some of you are interested.
My next two planned articles on Guild Ball are:
* The history of the game (rise and fall, the creation of GBCP, resurrection of GB, and so on). This is typically an article where I can fit quotes from the GBCP team or ask for proofreading by old timers.
* The 2026 buying guide for Guild Ball.
A great 5th article could be a comparison between Blood Bowl and Guild Ball. It might help new players decide between the two or drive Blood Bowl players to GB. But this is typically an article where you need to know both games well, and I don’t know anything about BB. So I can’t write it myself
Around February 2026 we plan to open the door to occasional guest articles from players.
We’ve come to realize that, as a small team, we can’t cover every game. Sometimes because of limited time, sometimes simply because we don’t know a game well enough. At the same time, we know there are plenty of passionate players out there with great insights and experiences to share, even if they don’t want to commit to writing regularly for the site. Guest articles feel like a natural and friendly way to give those voices a place.”
Huge thank you to Jack and the other people at Critical Hit for featuring Guild Ball and spreading the word that we’re back and growing again <3
