The Family holds two models that were on each side of the errata spectrum – one of the models that felt most in need of a strong buff, and one that most people agreed needed a nerf. Of course I’m talking about The Veteran First Lady, and The Chicken. π
Disclaimer: In all my 4.7 posts, I am very much open to that I might be wrong!
That’s part of the beauty of this game after all, and in general just in sharing any kind of hobby – to discuss all our thoughts about it.
Also, some that I have written may very well be coloured heavily by stuff that other great people have already discussed elsewhere, and in all such cases I can only bow and thank them for their wisdom. π
vHonour

The First Lady of Guild Ball, in her veterancy, wasn’t very strong before. Nowadays though! Now she shines again, no matter how mucky or grimy she gets at the farm or on the pitch. She will support the Farmers Guild with all her strength.
She lost Cocksure, because it makes way for Smelling Salts to even better deal with enemy conditions. While salts cost 2 it’s a good play that see use in other guilds as well. It does mean that she can’t be used to protect from conditions even though she can deal with them later in the turn, which might affect how to play her.
Another thing that affects how to playher is the new Fields of Wheat. She retains the trait, but it’s been buffed a lot and works a bit differently now.
Instead of just moving a harvest marker, she now regrows one that was just used. Way more efficient, and incredibly useful to be able to do it on any friendly model’s activation and not only on her own. So if any other friendly model spends or tramples a harvest marker within 4″ of Honour, it will just grow right back, then and there!
Last but certainly not least, her legendary is changed into a Heroic (which is a buff in itself I think) but also made a lot stronger. The targeted model gets harder to hit, and may also make an out-of-activation 4″ dodge. Compared to a once-only extra jog this is a pretty big buff. Faithful Protector is basically the same effect as vMinx got in her update now, with giving attackers -1 TAC, and I think it can be a strong effect in many circumstances.
I’m not sure how the changes affect Shepherds, but likely it will be similar as in Farmers.
She’s become a perfect example of the Coach role. Where some are Strikers and some are called Wingers and so on, veteran Honour excels at being in the middle of the fight without actively joining it, keeping her teammates safe and effective thoughout their own activation. She can be really important even without influence, which of course is a great model to have.
Peck

I saw people saying The chicken is dead, long live the chicken on discord, and it seems fitting. The feathery king has been somewhat plucked.
The Fifth Element taking dinner from the microwave – “Chicken! Good!” π
While still being able to play Cocksure to protect teammates against conditions, the old heroic is no more. The name When the Cock Crows was kept, but the effect is changed from condition tech into just placing a harvest marker. So the power of Peck is definitely taken down a bit.
But while the new heroic isn’t as strong, it’s also great to have a way to place a harvest marker without him dying. Overall I think he’s got really interesting changes, and that he’s still a strong mascot just in another way.
The playbook is stronger, and even though a buffed playbook likely wont be broken since it’s still a chicken we’re talking about, it’s still a 2dmg on column one.
Also, Pain Response is changed to give a lot more mobility, now giving a 6″ jog instead of a 1″ dodge. It does trigger parting blows now though, which might be a problem.
I’m not really sure what good Protective Instinct will do since the chicken will just die if he’s in the way, but I assume he can eat one or two influence through that, which isn’t irrelevant of course.
All in all will be really interesting to see what will happen at the farm yard, now that the rooster’s got new feathers.
Harrow

These are also really interesting changes, and together with the other two changed models in the guild, this will shake up the tournament rosters for Farmers.
Marked Target is changed into Pick of the Crop, which is basically the same but also lets you run over harvest markers without destroying them. “Get off my lawn, and don’t trample my pumpkin patch!” It will be situational of course, but it can be a really nice perk as well.
Harrow’s old healing trait is a good one really, buuut it’s been replaced by Rejuvenation which is way more interesting in Farmers. Now instead of healing 2 hp, the 6″ aura increases healing being done from other means, to heal 1 additional hp. Just healing more with Rest and Encourage can be relevant, and in a team like Farmers who have several more ways of regaining lost hp it will be more relevant for sure.
Nice!
Lastly he’s got a new play Maximum Effort, that makes damage results in playbooks momentous. Just like Elbow Grease, and since he’s working in a field he’s probably just as messy. I have a hard time evaluating how much difference it will make, but to be able to have Planter models deal momentous 2 on column 1 seems like a strong play.
