The world is waiting for the great and wonderful 4.6 errata coming somtime during next week. While we wait, this interesting part of game design below needs to be posted in relation to Guild Ball. First off an informal quote from SFG about errata cycles.
“A concept worth mentioning here is how much of a necessary evil regular errata cycles are to miniature games.
No miniature game is ever ‘done’. Because people playing the game will always find new power combinations or solves. Exacerbated by new releases adding new elements into the equation of game balance that have to be accounted for once folks have had chance to play with them in the wild.
The GBCP have done amazing work to carry on the necessary cycle of errata to refresh the game. But at the same time, no matter how the game had been left, there’d have been something to tweak.”
~ Jamie Perkins, product owner for Guild Ball at Steamforge Games
And there just so happens to be a great video about exactly this, made by ExtraHistory and I want to share it here.
